In 1938, Emmett J. Culligan and Wilbur L. Walton developed the water softening process. Mr. Walton obtained the rights to develop the soft water market in Texas and opened shop in San Antonio in 1947. He needed someone to manage the operation and he chose Gilbert “Gib” Boerner. Gib had recently returned from WWII and was also dating Wilbur’s daughter, Janet. A couple years later, Gib and Janet were married.
Eventually, Gib was able to purchase the San Antonio dealership in 1957 from Wilbur. Not too long after, Gib also purchased an office in Seguin in 1971 to service Guadalupe and Comal counties. Culligan of Seguin is a family owned business now in it’s third generation. We are dedicated to solve any water related problem and strive to give the best customer service possible.
